Now that Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming to an end, we hope you’ve taken time to learn your breast cancer risk and take note of your breast health.

While we have no control over the two leading risk factors for breast cancer: being female and getting older, we can choose to make healthy lifestyle choices that may reduce the risk of breast cancer developing. Being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight can also reduce the recurrence of breast cancer.

Make healthy lifestyle choices

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Add exercise into your routine
  • Limit alcohol intake
  • Limit postmenopausal hormone use
  • Breastfeed, if you can

Remember: the five-year survival rate for breast cancer when it’s caught early is 98%. When it’s not? 23%. Early detection saves lives.
