Local Media Talent Rally Together for the Cure

One and eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It’s a statistic that Komen Columbus fights to change by funding local community programs in our 30-county service area and global research.

As a community, we know this statistic and disease all too well. Many visible women, like 10TV’s Heather Pick, bravely fought breast cancer publicly to let others know they were not alone. Sadly, we lost Heather  on November 7, 2008.

This year, many familiar faces and voices in central Ohio are participating in the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 18. Each of these special ladies will be lending their “media muscle” to make the day memorable for all that come down to participate.

On the 5K start stage all three of our emcees are breast cancer survivors. ABC6/FOX28’s Maria Durant, NBC4’s Robyn Haines and 10TV’s Tracy Townsend will kick-off the 21st Annual Komen Columbus Race for the Cure.

If you are participating in the One Mile Family Fun walk,  Sunny 95’s Stacy McKay and Power 107.5’s Misty Jordan will be there to cheer on those participants. And when you cross the finish line, 10TV’s Kristyn Hartman and WCOL’s Stacie Raterman will be handing out hugs and high-fives to all survivors.

At the Survivor Ceremony, 10TV Morning Anchor, Angela An takes to the stage to close out the day with celebration for all survivors attending the Race.

“We are fortunate to have so many media friends in the community who rally behind Komen Columbus,” said Katie Carter, executive director at Komen Columbus “They join together to empower people with knowledge, celebrate life, share hope and fight together to find cures for breast cancer. We are proud and grateful for their continued support.”
