The Komen Young Professionals will host a fashion show June 15 at Park Street Patio to benefit Komen Columbus. Style for the Cure will feature local young breast cancer survivors wearing clothes donated from Columbus boutiques including Francesca’s, Boho 72, Cato and more. The event is meant to raise awareness around breast cancer occurring in younger women and to celebrate young survivors whose stories of courage and perseverance inspire us all.
“We know breast cancer is more common in women over the age of 40,” says Michelle Wong Halabi, President of Komen Young Professionals. “However, there are nearly 30,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed each year in women under the age of 40, and it’s important for us to give these women a voice and to celebrate their stories of survivorship.”
All models will walk the runway twice wearing outfits specifically styled for them and will be accompanied by a support partner. In addition to the fashion show, Style for the Cure guests will enjoy complimentary valet parking, a cocktail hour, dinner buffet, drink specials, raffle prizes and an event swag bag. Emceeing the fashion show will be 10TV News Reporter, Karina Nova.
“We are very excited to host this event for the first time,” says Wong. “It supports our mission to raise funds that benefit Komen Columbus and directly support the programs and research necessary to one day finding a cure for breast cancer.”
