Congratulations to Craig & Jaclyn Sivers for being named our July Volunteers of the Month!
“Craig and Jaclyn have been very instrumental in hosting an annual golf outing, raising thousands of dollars for Komen Columbus, making them one of our top fundraisers for the past two years,” said Natalie Guagenti, volunteer and event manager at Komen Columbus.
The couple have rallied their friends and co-workers to join in this fight against breast cancer and have also formed a race team each year. Jaclyn has had a personal experience with breast cancer in her family and because of this, Craig has completely shared in her passion to help find a cure.
Here’s why Craig and Jaclyn volunteer for Komen Columbus in their own words
What (or whom) inspired you to get involved with Komen Columbus?
Jaclyn’s Grandmother, Katie Consolo, died at 69 after battling years of metastasized breast cancer. She was either unaware of or ignored all of the early signs. Her doctors said early diagnosis and treatment could have saved her life.
What’s your favorite part about volunteering with Komen Columbus?
Craig is new to the board this year. He’s thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the business discussions of Susan G. Komen Columbus which has allowed him to utilize his expertise to assist with a great cause. He’s also enjoyed meeting those that commit so much time to Komen Columbus and has learned a lot from them.
What is the most memorable moment or event you’ve experienced with Komen Columbus? And why?
Our first golf tournament charity event. We had no idea how to host a charity event and yet our team raised thousands of dollars. We couldn’t believe the support the employees at Aerotek generated. People flew in from out of town, took a day off of work and/or made huge donations. It was really moving. We realized the more organized & creative we got, the more money we could raise. That’s what we hope to continue to do.
When you’re not volunteering for Komen Columbus, what do you like to do?
Craig is a hug golfer. Jaclyn loves to read. Together we like to ride our bikes and walk our dogs.
